FAQ

WHAT ARE SUNDAY MORNING SERVICES LIKE?

You are invited to participate in one of our four Traditional worship services:  Sunday morning at 8:00am and Monday evening at 7:00pm in our Chapel or Sunday morning at 9:00am and 10:30am in our Sanctuary.

The traditional services are based on the Lutheran Service book.  Services in our Sanctuary include music led by organ, the Chancel Choir, Praise Team and sometimes accompanied by guitars, drums, and keyboard.  Often you will hear one of our other choral groups, piano, brass groups or Redeemer Brass and/or Redeemer Ringers.  The services are based on the traditional order of worship that dates back in some parts to the earliest days of Christianity.  Services in our Chapel are lead by piano and often have soloists to accompany our congregants.

The contemporary service replaces the 10:30 traditional service from late May to early September only.  It keeps the basic framework of the liturgy but is more informal and uses lively hymns and praise songs.

CAN ANYONE COME TO WORSHIP?

Yes, absolutely! Our services and Bible studies are open to all.  We would love to have you worship with us. Also, take time to introduce yourself to a pastor and be sure to grab a welcome bag filled with items that will help you get to know us.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

There is no set dress code, but you are entering the house of God and your attire should reflect a higher level of respect. Typically anything from work casual or dressier is appropriate.

HOW DO I JOIN?

Once a year we offer New Member classes.  This is a chance for those interested, or simply curious in knowing more about Redeemer to gather for six weeks to learn about Lutheran doctrine, worship and core beliefs.  It also enables you to get to know the pastors and staff on a personal level.  At the conclusion of the six weeks, it is up to you whether you are ready to join or wish to explore further.  If you are currently a Missouri Synod Lutheran, you can transfer in at any time and be celebrated officially when the New Member class is formally brought into membership during a worship service. For more information on joining, CLICK HERE.

DOES REDEEMER BAPTIZE?

Yes. We never turn away an opportunity for a baptism. We believe that in baptism God the Holy Spirit makes His home within our hearts. We would never deny anyone this opportunity. To request a baptism, call the church office at 248- 644-4010 or to fill out our online form CLICK HERE.

DOES REDEEMER DO NON-MEMBER WEDDINGS?

Yes. We are always pleased when people want to speak their vows in the house of God. We also have counseling available. Call the church office for further information at 248-644-4010 or fill out our online form CLICK HERE.

CAN I RECEIVE COMMUNION?

Communion is celebrated at the following services weekly:

8:00 am – second, fourth & fifth Sunday
9:00 am – first and third Sunday
10:30 am – first and third Sunday
7:00 pm – the Monday after second, fourth & fifth Sunday

If you share our beliefs regarding the Lord’s Supper, we welcome you to our altar.

  • I believe that Jesus Christ is my only Lord and Savior from all sin, Satan and death.
  • I believe that Christ is really present in the Sacrament and that with the bread and wine I receive His true Body and Blood.
  • I resolve to dedicate my life to my Lord and Savior in His Body, the Church, by regular worship and devoted Christian service and living.

If you would like to receive a gluten-free wafer, please raise your pointer finger. Communion wine is dark in color, de-alcoholized wine is light. If you would like to receive the wine from the chalice, please raise your pointer finger when the individual cups are distributed. Non-communing children and adults may receive a blessing from the pastor, indicated by folding your arms across your chest as a sign you are not communing.

I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN, CAN I BRING THEM TO WORSHIP?

Absolutely! We often offer a children’s sermon and always welcome our little believers.  If you have an infant who is having a difficult time, you may take them to our Town Square where we have a staffed Nursery available from 8:50 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

DO I SIGN THE CHURCH CARDS?

We have a welcome card in the pews in which we invite all to write their names and leave it on the pew seat, or put it into the offering plate.  We encourage you to include your contact information and indicate if you’d like to be contacted by someone from the church.  You can also scan the QR code on the front cover of the Announcements and check in online.

WHAT ABOUT MAKING AN OFFERING?

The offering time is primarily for our members to give their tithes and offerings to the Lord, and as a guest you need not feel obligated to give.  If the Spirit moves you to put something in the offering, thank you!

DO YOU HAVE A TIME FOR FELLOWSHIP?

Yes, after the 8:00 am worship, and between the 9:00 am and 10:30 am service is our weekly coffee hour.  You are welcome to join us in the Town Square.  Please come and have some coffee and snacks and meet some new folks.  There is also additional information about the congregation and sign-ups to our many events on our bulletin board.

HOW DO I LEARN MORE ABOUT REDEEMER?

Feel free to call the church office or stop by during office hours (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).  You may also call one of our Pastors or Laura Vowell who is our Outreach Coordinator.  Our staff look forward to meeting you.
